The vision of xiaguan as an “open city” has 6 key characteristics: diverse, flexibile, creative, successful, accessibile, robust.
Our proposal is anticipatory, engaging with emerging ideas and opportunities to develop an urban centre that is ahead of its time, with the ambition to be the benchmark for new sustainable urban centres of this scale.
The goal is to: create better public spaces for better communities, create distinctive districts and neighbourhoods to encourage a diverse population, create housing and work space diversity, create variety of urban grains for diverse urban characteristics.
