西太湖将会成为一个现代化开发区的中心地带。西太湖将会成为一个21世纪的新兴可持续城市中心。
我们的方案是有远见的，结合新兴的想法和机遇去开发一个走在时代前端的城市中心，并且我们有志向让她成为此类新型可持续发展城市中心的典范。
创造更好社区的公共空间、为多样化的人口结构创造出独特的区域和邻里空间、创造多样化的居住形式和工作空间、多变的城市肌理来对应多样的城市特色。
水毋庸置疑是最强烈的景观特色之一，并且是大多数长江三角洲地区城镇乡的历史特征。西太湖的规划以还原水体作为城市形态与特色的主要推动力。水不只是一个静态的背景，而是应该被理解成为一个重要的人群活动的焦点和一个现代社区生活的重要成分。
西太湖的休闲，娱乐和零售区域的聚焦集中在营造一个活跃的与湖滨结合的城市环境，同时结合一系列的公共广场和连接主要零售区及活动节点的步行道网络。新的西太湖规划框架加强了市中心与湖滨的连接，意在结合湖滨会展两中心，办公和休闲等城市设施，让它们能给当地居民与旅游参观者留下深刻的城市印记。该城市充分地利用了她得天独厚的地理优势，营造出一个极具时代特色城市天际线，使西太湖成为一个新兴的活跃的可持续发展的21世纪新都市。

Xitaihu will be a contemporary city centre for a new development district. Xitaihu to be the new sustainable city centre for the 21st century.
Our proposal is anticipatory, engaging with emerging ideas and opportunities to develop an urban centre that is ahead of its time, and the ambition to be the bench mark for new sustainable urban centres of this scales.
To create better public spaces for better communities, create distinctive districts and neighbourhoods to encourage a diverse population, create housing and work space diversity, variations of urban grains for diverse urban characteristics.
Water is undoubtedly one of the strongest landscape features and most distinctive historic attribute of many of the Yangtze river delta cities, towns and villages. The development of Xitaihu returns the presence of water as an important driver of the urban form and creator of urban character for Xitaihu. Water is not merely a passive backdrop but understood as an important focus for activity and an important ingredient in the creation of contemporary civic and community life.
Xitaihu’s leisure, entertainment and retail precincts are all focused upon an active urban design engagement with the waterfront, integrating a network of public squares and promenades which directly link to major retail areas and activity anchors. The new Xitaihu framework reinforces the CBD’s engagement with the lakefront, attempting to integrate the waterfront exhibition, conference, office and leisure facilities as key identity creators for both the local residents as well as visitors. The city also takes advantage of its unique setting to create a contemporary urban skyline marking Xitaihu as an emerging and vibrant sustainable 21st century new city.
